Engineering Based Medicine

A new medical challenge

The goal of EBM is not merely to sell in-house products.
We aim to jointly solve unknown problems and issues encountered
at the clinical site with physicians and healthcare professionals,
in order to make a small contribution to the attaining of a better future and a better society.

EBM will take maximum advantage of its
"industry-academic-government / medical-engineering global cooperation network"
which it has strived to cultivate, in order to provide specific solutions.

Surgical Training technology

  • Organ model development for WETLAB

Upon request from companies, we develop organ models suitable for WETLAB and provide stable quality and supply. In the hands-on seminar held to ensure safe usage of in-house products, prior preparation and cleanup are troublesome, requiring time, effort and cost. In addition, in the wet model, similarity with human anatomy and reproducibility of tissue characterization are required. We are in a cooperative relationship with researchers at regenerative medical institutions, endeavoring to provide the optimal models.

    Product examples
Skin models, whole heart models, abdominal wall models, foot joint models, graft vessel models
  • Simulator development for DRYLAB

The research team represented by the Park Laboratory team at Waseda University has been making improvements through 10 years of accumulated research of BEAT and YOUCAN, leading to their commercialization and sales. In the area of simulator development, all wasted procedures have been eliminated, and through engineering approach, products which prove practical at clinical sites are being produced. Regarding new developments, please consult us.

  • Development of training equipment

In conducting vascular anastomosis training, a great quantity of consumable medical supplies such as sutures is required. In order to reduce training costs, we have succeeded in the development of dedicated training sutures and neurosurgical tabletop microscopes. Regardless of the field, in order to improve the training environment at clinical sites, we will continue to make necessary developments.

Quantitative assessment technology

  • Blood flow analysis software
    - hemoscope -

"hemoscope" is a dedicated blood flow analysis software.

By conducting quantitative assessment of blood flow at the vascular anastomosis site and numerical analysis of blood flow within the cerebral aneurysm and coronary artery, visualization and quantification can be made. Presently efforts are made toward clinical application.

  • Fluorescent particles for PIV experiment
    - FLUOSTAR -

Fluorescent particles FLUOSTAR for flow visualization experiments were developed by a bioengineer specializing in flow visualization. These are highly luminescent unique particles and are exported globally.

  • Quantitative assessment of vascular anastomosis skill
    - Skill Assessment -

By combining blood flow analysis technique and surgery video analysis, a quantitative assessment service of vascular anastomosis skills (particularly coronary artery bypass surgery) is provided.

Engagement

  • Holding of hands-on seminars

We are collaborating with various expert conferences such as the Japanese Society for Cardiovascular Surgery and the Japanese Association for Thoracic Surgery, in order to hold OPCAB contests and blood flow analysis workshops. We will proactively support the holding of company-sponsored hands-on seminars. Such events are vital occasions where physicians meet one another and devote themselves to study, and we provide suggestions on effective and highly-motivating plans thereof.

  • Operation of surgical training facilities

We will establish the Fukushima Institute of Surgical Training (FIST) at a location that is a 12-minute walk from JR Fukushima Station. It may be used for DRYLAB and WETLAB training.

  • Research support for physicians

Training and blood flow analysis remain the hot topic inspiring research globally. We support the experiments, researches and paper-writing for doctors who are exerting themselves on-site.

Globalization

  • International standardization of surgical training

With the goal of international standardization of surgical training, we are conducting research and development as well as discussions and adjustments with key persons regarding training equipment, curriculum and assessment method, etc.

  • Medical tourism

We support medical tourism by utilizing medical networks cultivated through surgical training and research development. Particularly, we support inbound training of surgeons and medical professionals who are studying in Japan.

  • Import and export of medical-related equipment, etc.

By utilizing the experience of developing, manufacturing and selling in-house products, we support the distribution, outsourcing and sales of medical-related equipment (excluding registerd goods).
